UAE salary calculator
The UAE charges no personal income tax, so for most expatriates take-home pay is simply gross pay minus any agreed deductions (loans, salary advances, unpaid-leave deductions). Emirati employees contribute 5% of pensionable salary to the GPSSA pension scheme. Enter your package below to see take-home pay and conversions.
What usually comes out of a UAE salary
- Income tax: none - the UAE does not tax employment income.
- Pension: UAE and GCC nationals contribute 5% of pensionable salary to GPSSA; expatriates do not contribute to a UAE pension (they receive end-of-service gratuity instead - see the gratuity calculator).
- Agreed deductions: loan repayments, advances, or deductions for unpaid absence. Employers may not charge workers visa or recruitment fees.
Frequently asked questions
Is there income tax in the UAE?
No. Salaries are not taxed, which is why gross and net pay are usually identical for expatriates before any agreed deductions.
What is the 5% deduction for Emiratis?
UAE nationals registered with GPSSA contribute 5% of their pensionable salary; their employer adds 12.5% (private sector), and the government contributes a further 2.5%.
How do I get an hourly rate from my monthly salary?
Monthly ÷ 30 gives a daily rate (the convention also used for gratuity and leave maths); divide by your contractual hours per day (usually 8) for an hourly rate.
Why track my basic salary separately?
Gratuity and overtime are calculated on basic pay, not total package. A higher basic share means a higher gratuity.
